DREAM IT, BE IT SCHOLARSHIP
for Qualifying Dream It, Be It Program Participants

The DREAM IT, BE IT SCHOLARSHIP was designed to continue our support of girls who participate in our Dream It, Be It program and encourage them to pursue education and/or career training beyond their high school years. It provides one-time financial aid to off-set their education expenses as they pursue post-secondary educational goals. Funds can be used to cover any education-related expenses including two- and four-year college, certificate training programs, and trades and journeyman training. At least one $500 scholarship is awarded annually. In 2024, we awarded five! These are cash grants given directly to the awardees.

Most of the high school girls we mentor in our Dream It, Be It program tell us that funding higher education is a significant obstacle. With this award, we hope to help them overcome that obstacle and be able to realize their goals and dreams.


ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION:
You must have attended a Dream It, Be It Girls Conference hosted by Soroptimist International of Las Cruces in 2020, 2022, 2023 or 2024 OR participated in 3 sessions of Dream It, Be It at the New America School in 2023 or 5 sessions in 2023-24, or 6 sessions in 2024-25.


APPLICATION CYCLE:

May – Application cycle begins May 1st

June – Applications DUE JUNE 15th

July – Winner chosen and notified

August – Award presentation

APPLICATION JUDGING CRITERIA:

✔︎Applications submitted by the deadline are reviewed by a panel of judges using a point system to rank applicants based on the financial  information and essays provided in the award application.

 ✔︎Applications submitted without proof of continuing education documentation will not be considered. Submit either:

●Letter of Acceptance (if you have not yet started college)

●Current transcript (if you have already started college)

  1. Scan your letter of acceptance or transcript. (See directions below.)
  2. Click on the link below and fill out the application form.
  3. Attached your scanned document.
  4. Click submit button.

iPhone

  1. Open Notes and select a note or create a new one.
  2. Tap the Attachment button, then tap Scan Documents .
  3. Place your document in view of the camera.
  4. If your device is in Auto mode, your document will automatically scan. If you need to manually capture a scan, tap the Shutter button or press one of the Volume buttons. Then drag the corners to adjust the scan to fit the page, then tap Keep Scan.
  5. Tap Save or add additional scans to the document.

Android

Using Google Photos/Gallery:

1.    Open the image in your photos/gallery app.

2.    Tap the "Print" option.

3.    Choose "Save as PDF".
