Dream It, Be It Award

The Dream It, Be It continuing education award was developed to help high school girls off-set continuing education expenses.  It can be used for any educational program, including but not limited to: two and four year college, certificate training programs, trades and journeyman training, etc.

$500 in continuing education money will be awarded in August.

At the beginning of 2018, Soroptimist of the Americas challenged it’s clubs to expand existing programs to help more girls and women, the “Dream It, Be It Continuing Education Award” is our answer to that challenge.  Originally announced at the January 2018 Dream It, Be It conference, it is our first award specifically designed to help high-school girls overcome the initial financial barrier to higher education.

Meet our 2018 inaugural winner of the Dream It, Be It Continuing Education Award, Estrella Sicarios. Estrella attended the first DIBI Conference in 2016 and is now a junior at Western New Mexico University, majoring in social work. At the conference Estrella remembers a speaker saying, “It’s not just the grades you make, but the hands you shake.” That encouraged her to become a leader in campus organizations, including The National Society of Leadership and the Student Judicial Conduct Board.
